Harombyr is an agrarian monarchy in northwest Senestria.
Harombyr inhabits an oddly-shaped region bordered by the Dusk Edge Sea and a range of mountains to the west, the Necantyr Forest to the east, and the impassable ice of the north. Though the northern plains are ostensibly under Harombyri control, few people live there, as the climate is quite cold. Only the southern city of Calatoth has access to a river — the delta of the Tyrbol — but there is a large lake on the northwest edge of the capitol which serves the water needs of that city. The land is fertile enough and the weather temperate enough to support heavy agriculture.
The capital city of Harombyr lies in a narrow stretch of plains between the western mountains and Necantyr Forest. It is a fairly large city supported by a wide expanse of farmland to the north and south along the road, as well as the large Lake Eblanyika on the west side. On the northern edge of Necantyr, about 80 miles up the road from the capital, is the farming village of Corombyr. About 90 miles south of the capital, in the delta of the Tyrbol River, is the port city of Calatoth. Long ago, there was a logging town in the east, but since the curse befell Necantyr, that town has disappeared, and its name has been long forgotten. Ruins of that town and other small settlements and private castles can still be found in the forest, by anyone strong and foolish enough to explore it.
A royal family represents the nation in matters of diplomacy, justice, and war. The laws which govern the daily lives of the subjects are written by the Senate, which contains eight representatives from each of Harombyr's three cities. The Senators in turn educate the royals with regards to the law, so that they might better decide the verdicts of the royal courts. These laws are relatively lax compared to those of other nations, which allows the people to live their lives with minimum interference from the authorities. Historically, this system has worked quite well, and the nation has remained generally peaceful and prosperous.
Harombyr has almost no military presence to speak of. There is a Royal Guard who protects the lives and livelihood of the royal family, and a Senatorial Guard who ensures the security of the Senate House and the Senators themselves.
