This version of the Caraonis campaign setting is hosted by BlueHost.com.

Of the halfling races, hobbits are derived from the race of the same name created by J. R. R. Tolkien; kender are derived from kender from the DragonLance series of novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, further developed by TSR.

The concept for dracyls was likewise derived from the draconians of the DragonLance campaign setting.

Descriptions of races and character classes derived from published materials cite the original sources where applicable.

The concept for dark iron and the Catalyst character class were adapted from the Darksword trilogy of novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The class description for catalysts in the Pathfinder ruleset was thoroughly critiqued by, and reshaped in collaboration with, Alec Christian and Peter Dunn.

The name and original concept for "Quan iron" were created by André Norton for her Witch World series of novels. Its physical properties are all taken directly from her original work, but its abilities and properties have been altered to fit the Caraonis setting. The name has since been changed to draconic iron.

The character Cideryon Elhavan was originally created and played by Shannon M. Smith, and served as the archetype for the Artificer class.

The character Carin Palladín was adapted from an original concept including work by Leslie Taggart.

The physical appearance of the Corridor Gates was inspired by the monoliths described by Arthur C. Clarke in 2001: A Space Odyssey and its sequels. They are not, however, "full of stars".
